WorkForce Center Resource Areas - Assistive Technology: Job Access with Speech (JAWS) for Windows

Description: JFW or JAWS for Windows, is computer software which provides a blind or visually impaired person with access to a computer using any version of the Microsoft Windows operating system. It converts what is on the computer screen to synthesized speech or refreshable Braille. Text, icons, dialog boxes, and other controls are verbalized, and there are a variety of keyboard commands (instead of a mouse) which allow the user to read or silence portions of the screen, and to use and manipulate test and controls.

Target Audience: JFW is intended for customers who are blind, or those who are unable to see a normal or enlarged computer screen.
